Usakuma is a short-format TV anime produced by Studio XYZ for TV Asahi.

It was Aozora Studio's first TV anime as an independent animation studio, with its first overall anime being the 1984 movie The Name of the Rose.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

The series revolves around Usagitaro, a magical bunny from the moon, and Kumamaru, a sumo wrestling bearcub, as they help the beautiful Flower Princess Hanako on her way back to the Kingdom of Botanica and at the same time fight for her affection.

Cast[edit | edit source]

  • Tomiko Suzuki as Usagitaro, a rabbit with magical powers who fell off of the moon.
  • Kazue Ikura as Kumamaru, a sumo wrestling bearcub and a tough boy.
  • Megumi Hayashibara as Hanako, the flower princess of the Kingdom of Botanica, who got lost through unknown means.
